Trompe l'oeil mural in private residence
Abstract mural in private residence
In May of 2001, I was hired to be the artist-in-residence at Newton D. Baker
School of Arts Elementary School.

This is the only elementary arts magnet school in the Cleveland Municipal
School District.
I had the unique opportunity to collaborate with these talented students
and paint a large mural gracing the front entrance of their school.

I worked with approximately thirty fifth grade students to conceive and
execute this mural.
The students and I designed the mural to showcase their art programs;
dance, music, theatre and visual art.

The artist-in-residence program required me to order the supplies,
coordinate with staff, students
and administration to complete the entire project in three weeks.
Local Cleveland artist, Hector Vega, was asked to design the RTA mural by the Director of Case’s Center for
Community Partnerships, Latisha James. This mural is affiliated with Case's "Sixth Annual Case for Community" event.
Vega sequestered the help of fellow artist and Brush High School teacher, Sarah Curry. Curry in turn enlisted her
Senior AP Studio Art Drawing class who were more than happy to help and lead the seventy-five Case volunteers on
Sept 19th.

Six Brush students from Curry’s class were assigned to be group leaders who volunteered their time on the weekends
and after school. Working side by side with Vega and Curry, the students spent three weeks drawing the design on the
7 ft by 200 ft wall and outlined major shapes with paint to make it easier for the volunteers when they arrived to help.
The mural is located on the corner of Murray Hill Road and Cedar Hill.

Local Cleveland artist, Julianna Burrows, and Sarah Curry designed and executed a 16ft X 8ft chalk drawing for
the Annual Berea fairgrounds Oktober fest. Their inspiration for the drawing was Michelangelo's famous painting
from the Sistine Chapel,
The Creation of Adam. (with a German twist, of course!)
